Would you like a recording of a previous match?

We occasionally receive requests for commentary from previous matches.

The MCC ball-by-ball commentary began in the summer of 2006 and we have an archive of all the matches at Lord's (and some tour games at Arundel, Durham etc.) since then.

The files for a full day's cricket are extremely large - we can offer MP3 downloads for a small cost, but you will probably wish to receive a CD-ROM or DVD.

We will also try to accommodate requests for specificincidents/interviews/guests. More complex editing is certainly available (although this will incur costs and increase the turnaround time.)

Prices for 2010:

There is a small charge (primarily to cover time/costs).

Provide details of which match(es) you need (and how many copies) and we will provide a quote.

Typical prices:

£6 per disc, plus £1.50 for UK P&P - we can also ship internationally - P&P from £3 for airmail).

Downloads: typically £3 per match (and depending on what you want.)

Payment can be made by cheque or Paypal.

Formats available

CD-ROM:

(simple explanation) As cricket commentaries are anything up to 7 hours long, and an audio CD can only hold 74 minutes, we supply recordings in MP3 format. This is playable in any computer with a CD-ROM or DVD drive, and an increasing number of recently manufactured CD and DVD players (there will normally be a label to indicate they are capable of playing MP3 files on the disc tray.)

(technical details) We supply CD-R media recorded in yellow-book (CD-ROM) format. The session and disc is closed before posting. The MP3 files are usually encoded at 64kbps with a single mono channel and a 44khz sample rate.

WAV and DVD:

For 2009 matches onwards we will offer you a choice between original high quality WAV files (no compression so no compression artifacts) and smaller MP3. Normally we'd suggest supplying WAV files on DVD, due to the amount of space required.

Others:

  • - Standard audio CDs (red book) - for playing on older CD players, on a car stereo etc.
(You will need at least 5 CDs per day, depending on the length of the game.)
  • - USB memory stick (for use on a computer/other device without an optical drive)
